With more than 30 years' experience in the financial services industry, Tom is ranked as the #1 Financial Advisor in the State of Florida by Barron's 1. For the past eight years, Barron's has also ranked him as one of the top 100 Advisors in the Nation.

Tom was included in the Forbes magazine 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Top Wealth Advisor List3  and also Financial Times Top 400 Advisors list2 in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, which recognizes the top financial advisors at broker-dealers across the United States.

Other industry accolades include the Top 100 Wirehouse Advisor as ranked by WealthManagement.com4. In 2015, Tom was honored with the Wells Fargo Advisors Spirit Award5 as the Wells Fargo Volunteer of the Year. Portfolios managed by Tom have been nationally recognized for their performance, including the Millennium Portfolio, which was ranked #1 by Lipper Marketplace6 in two asset classes utilized for the 12 quarters ending December 31, 2016.

As a Senior Portfolio Manager as well as a member of the firm’s Advisory Council for fee-based money management services, Tom is well-known and respected throughout Wells Fargo Advisors and often lectures before financial professionals and individual organizations throughout the nation on the economy and financial markets. Tom is often invited to share his insights with numerous leading industry publications, including Barron's and Gulfshore Business. He has authored articles on a variety of financial and economic topics for local and national industry magazines.

Tom is deeply engaged in the Naples community and is a passionate supporter of numerous organizations. He serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the United Arts Council and the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples, the Naples Board of Advisors for the James Madison Institute, and is Chairman Emeritus of the Board for Opera Naples. Because of his exemplary commitment to the community, The Education Foundation of Collier County recognized Tom as one of their 2010 Men of Distinction. In 2015 Naples Daily News included Tom as one of their first 25 over 50 honorees in recognition of his philanthropic efforts and achievements. In 2016, Tom was honored with the Invest in Others Community Leadership Award, which recognizes the charitable work of financial advisors.

Additionally, Tom and his wife of 32 years, Sandi are Trustees for the Naples Children & Education Foundation (NCEF), which organizes the Naples Winter Wine Festival. The Moran’s were co-chairs of the 2015 and 2016 Festivals; both years the Festival has earned the distinction of being the #1 charitable wine festival in the United States. The couple has proudly underwritten events for a lengthy list of charitable and arts-oriented organizations.

In recognition of their remarkable work and impact within the Naples community, Tom and Sandi received the 2010 Philanthropist of the Year’s Lifetime Achievement award and in 2012 were honored by Gulfshore Life magazine as Men and Women of the Year and Tom was one of Naples Illustrated’s Men of the Year in 2017. In 2015, the United Arts Council recognized Tom and Sandi as Stars in the Arts for their dedication to education in the arts for local children.

Their daughter is a Williams College Honors graduate and is currently pursuing her MBA at Columbia University. Their eldest son is a Cornell University graduate and is now pursuing his PhD in Entomology at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Their youngest son is a 2018 graduate of Harvard University. Tom graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado.

Barron's Top 100 Financial Advisors: Criteria was based on thousands of filtered nominations from investment, insurance, banking and other related firms, which were narrowed down by quantitative and qualitative criteria as well as by examining regulatory records and talking with peers, supervisors, clients and the advisors themselves. Portfolio performance is not a criterion because most advisors do not have audited track records.

Barron's Top 1,000 and Top 1,200 Financial Advisors: The rankings are based on data provided by thousands of advisors and financial services firms. Factors included in the rankings were assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work. Investment performance isn't an explicit component.

2016 Forbes Top Wealth Advisors: Ranking algorithm based on industry experience, interviews, compliance records, assets under management, revenue and other criteria by SHOOK Research, LLC, which does not receive compensation from the advisors or their firms in exchange for placement on a ranking. 2016 WealthManagement.com Top 100 Wirehouse Advisors: list is based solely on assets under management. Only those advisors for whom 80 percent or more of assets correspond to retail clients were eligible for the list.

Lipper Marketplace Best Money Managers are compiled from a quarterly survey of investment management organizations and portfolio composites. Performance is calculated "net" of all fees and brokerage commissions, inclusive of cash and in U.S. dollars. Results calculated on a minimum asset base of at least $10 million for "traditional" U.S. asset classes (equity, fixed income, balanced accounts) and $1 million for all international and for "alternative" U.S. asset classes.
