Tom is often invited to lecture before financial professionals and individual organizations across the United States on the economy and financial markets. Leading industry publications, including Barron’s and Gulfshore Business, feature Tom’s insights, and articles he has authored on a variety of financial and economic topics.

Tom is passionate about a variety of professional and charitable endeavors. Along with Sandi, his wife of  36 years, he is particularly devoted to children’s charities and the arts. Tom serves on the Naples Board of Advisors for the James Madison Institute and is Chairman Emeritus of the Board for Opera Naples. The Education Foundation of Collier County recognized Tom as one of their 2010 Men of Distinction for his exemplary commitment to the community. In 2015, Naples Daily News included Tom as one of their first 25 over 50 honorees for his distinguished philanthropic efforts and achievements. In 2016, Tom was honored with the Invest in Others Community Leadership Award, which recognizes the charitable work of financial advisors.

Tom and Sandi are Lifetime Trustees of the Naples Children & Education Foundation (NCEF), and twice, in 2015 and 2016, served as co-chairs of NCEF’s Naples Winter Wine Festival. Each of those years the event earned the distinction of being the #1 charitable wine festival in the United States raising over $24 million dollars. The couple has proudly underwritten events for many charitable and arts-oriented organizations, including recently pledging $5 million towards the construction of Gulfshore Playhouse’s new Baker Theatre and Education Center.

In recognition of their remarkable work and impact within Naples, Tom and Sandi received the 2010 Philanthropist of the Year’s Lifetime Achievement award and in 2012 were honored among Gulfshore Life’s Men and Women of the Year. Tom was one of Naples Illustrated’s Men of the Year in 2017. In 2015, the United Arts Council recognized Tom and Sandi as Stars In The Arts for their dedication to arts education for local children.

Their daughter Kylen is a Williams College Honors graduate and received her MBA from Columbia University. Their eldest son, Kevin, is a Cornell University graduate and has earned his PhD in Entomology at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Their son Patrick is a graduate of Harvard University; son Shane is a graduate of Sewanee University with a BA in Economics and the University of Notre Dame with a MA in Management. Kylen, Patrick and Shane work in the firm. Tom graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado.

Criteria was based on thousands of filtered nominations from investment, insurance, banking and other related firms, which were narrowed down by quantitative and qualitative criteria as well as by examining regulatory records and talking with peers, supervisors, clients and the advisors themselves. Portfolio performance is not a criterion because most advisors do not have audited track records.
